Heemskerk Flowers becomes part of Dutch Flower Group
Building strength for the future
Floriculture supplier Heemskerk Flowers has become part of Dutch Flower Group (DFG) as of October 6, 2025. A joining of forces under the DFG umbrella that Heemskerk Flowers regards as essential to maintaining its significant market position in the longer term.
Heemskerk Flowers, founded in 1961 by Bert Heemskerk, is one of the international floriculture sector’s largest traders of fresh cut flowers, house plants and outdoor plants. The company is known for its focus on quality, together with an finely-tuned logistics operation that goes all the way through to customers’ individual stores.
Although now part of DFG, Heemskerk Flowers will continue to operate independently, retaining its own identity within a market that is increasingly consolidating. This setup means Heemskerk Flowers will retain its own vision and values, along with its familiar short communication lines, customer focus and distinctive corporate culture. The company will thereby remain flexible, with the ability to respond quickly to its customers’ needs.
Under the banner of its overarching motto “With passion, we bloom the world”, Heemskerk Flowers makes an online range of flowers, plants and accessories available through flexible, customer-oriented service. The company works with more than 300 people to ensure florists and wholesalers, within and outside of Europe, are kept supplied every day.
Heemskerk Flowers’ procurement includes certified purchases according to the “FSI Basket of Standards”. This practice, implemented by Heemskerk Flowers in the last few years, is an integral step towards sustainability that the company will continue to invest in.
“I am delighted that Heemskerk Flowers is now part of Dutch Flower Group. I see many opportunities for Heemskerk Flowers to move forward with improved professionality within this family of companies.”
Roos Heemskerk (managing director Heemskerk Flowers)
As of October 6, 2025, the management team of Heemskerk Flowers will comprise Roos Heemskerk (managing director), Matthijs de Ruiter (financial director), Dennis Kromhout (commercial director) and Leo Heemskerk (director of IT). Roos Heemskerk takes over the managing director position from Bert Heemskerk who, after a long period in the role, has decided to step down to focus on leading companies outside of the floriculture sector.
“I’m very proud to welcome Heemskerk Flowers to DFG. This further expands our portfolio with the expert in the intricate delivery process to independent florists.”
