Greenex joins Dutch Flower Group

Further strategic reorientation of UNIVEG with focus on fruits and vegetables

In the context of a strategic reorientation, the UNIVEG group will be focussing on its core business — i.e. its global fruits and vegetables operations — and phasing out its floriculture activities.

After Vanderschoot's management buy-out earlier this year, Greenex will leave the UNIVEG group and join Dutch Flower Group as of 1 January 2013.

Greenex views Dutch Flower Group as the best party in the floriculture industry with which to further develop its multiple retail activities. In mid-2013, Greenex will move into new premises on the Veiling Zuid site in De Kwakel. The company will continue to operate under the management of Willem van den Berg.

The UNIVEG group is a global distributor of fresh products and is active in the fruits and vegetables, flowers and plants, convenience, and transport and logistics sectors.
UNIVEG has its principal place of business in Belgium and employs 4,500 people across five continents, generating an annual turnover of €3 billion. For more information: www.univeg.com

With its 1,750 employees, Dutch Flower Group achieved a turnover of €950 million in 60 countries worldwide in 2011. For more information: www.dfg.nl.
