On 18 June 2015 Dutch Flower Group (DFG) held their annual Suppliers Day, which this time had online business as its key feature. Consumers are rapidly changing their buying behaviour and if you don't want to miss the boat it is important to change with it. It is increasingly more popular to buy online.
Hans van der Meulen, online expert, gave a presentation of the developments within online business to an audience of 100 growers and DFG representatives from retail companies.
The growers were then split up in 10 groups and discussed this theme with each other.
Questions focussed on the ideal webshop, best ways to market fresh produce, the best organisation model and what assortment you should offer as a provider of flowers.
This was followed by a plenary feedback by the moderators to the audience, with the challenge: how do we make an online channel a practical part of our business.
Current developments were highlighted by a 3D printer demonstration and a number of drones used for flower transport. As always, the 'walking dinner' at the end gave ample opportunity for informal contact between growers and representatives of DFG companies.
All in all a very successful conference with a current and inspiring theme.
