Corporate Social Responsibility is one of the pillars of our business, and we constantly take steps to optimise it in everything we do. For example, we invest in our employees (e.g. professional development), the supply chain (sharing knowledge with growers), our clients (category management), the world (initiatives such as FSI and Fairtrade) and sustainability (sustainable logistics via for instance sea-container transport).

We work hard to raise awareness of the effects of our actions on the local and wider environment. We also implement step-by-step initiatives to promote sustainability, such as recycling and waste separation within our companies and with our partners.
We have already achieved a lot, although we don't like to scream it from the rooftops. For example, our new buildings are very energy efficient. We use very little heating and our cold storage systems have the lowest energy consumption possible. Whenever possible, we also strive to source our products in the same country as our client is located, as CO2 reduction is an important objective of our organisation.
Our social endeavours are also reflected by our involvement in the Ride for the Roses. This annual cycle tour raises funds for the Cancer Foundation, KWF Kankerbestrijding. This has become a highly successful event in our chain: a huge number of our employees participate in it and Dutch Flower Group is proud to be a main sponsor.
